The 2022 FIFA World, the 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup is the quadrennial international men's football championship contested by the national teams of the member associations of FIFA. It is scheduled to take place in Qatar in 2022.

Qatar is the first Arab country to host the World Cup and this is the first time the World Cup is held in the Middle East region. The format has not been announced, but under the current format, the tournament would involve 32 national teams, including the host nation.

In this context, and due to the requirements of hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Qatar has witnessed a huge booming in the construction sector resulting in a large number of infrastructure projects, including a USD20bn investment in roads; USD40bn investment in railways; USD4bn investment in stadiums; USD8bn investment on a deep-water seaport; tens of thousands of hotel rooms to be built and a new city.

In fact, an average real growth of 9.8% in the construction sector is expected between 2015 and 2023. In addition, the ongoing hotels and stadiums preparations for the World Cup reveal a strong average real growth of 13.4% over the forecast period 2015-2023.
